What is cashless car insurance?
The existence of this concept which first started in the health care domain has now extended its benefits to the motor insurance sector. When you purchase car insurance, the insurance companies provide you with two options for making claims i.e cashless claims and reimbursement claims. When you avail cashless claims, the insurance companies ensure that not a single penny goes out of your pockets
In order to provide the benefits of cashless car insurance , the insurance companies tie-up with garages. The garages that have a tie-up with the insurance companies are called ‘network garages.’ After an unfortunate event like an accident, the policyholder can bring their vehicles at these network garages. Once the car is repaired, the insurance companies cover the entire expenses of the repairs
What are the four steps to make cashless car insurance claims:
1. Register the claim with your company
The first and the most crucial step of filing for a claim is the registration. In order to make the registration of the claim, the policyholder should either personally visit the insurance company or contact the insurance company. Registration should be done immediately after the accident has taken place. The best way to register the claim is by doing it online by visiting the online portal of your insurance company.
2. Send your car for inspection
If there has been a collision, it is obvious that your car has been damaged either completely or partially. Whether your car is vandalized or is damaged by some peril, it has to be taken to the garage for repairs, if it is at least in a movable condition. If it is not in a movable condition, then get it towed in order to avoid further damages.
3. Submit the important documentation
Once you have sent your car for inspection, you need to submit all the important paperwork to get the claim process started. The mandatory information required by the insurance company is the engine number and the chassis number, the date and time of the accident, the location and description of the accident, the address of the garage your car has been inspected in, and so forth. Apart from this, you also need to submit the photocopies of the filed FIR in case of an accident or theft.
4. Attain the payment of repairs
The final step of filing a car insurance claim is the payment of repairs to the network garage. After the car is sent for repairs, the network garage sends an estimated amount required for the repairs to the insurance companies. When the insurance company receives the estimated amount, it approves the repairs required for your car and further transfers the amount directly to the network garage.
