Under a Group Personal Accident Policy, Death Cover ensures that if the insured suffers an accidental bodily injury during the policy period that results in death within 12 months, the nominee receives 100% of the sum assured, as per the selected plan (Basic, Wider, or Comprehensive).
Medical expenses reimbursement (if opted for and specified in the schedule) covers necessary medical treatment costs incurred due to an Accidental Bodily Injury. The reimbursement is capped at 40% of the approved claim amount or ₹5,00,000, whichever is lower. The expenses must be for treatment by a qualified doctor.
Hospital Confinement Allowance (if opted as per the policy schedule) provides ₹1,000 per complete day of hospitalisation due to an accidental bodily injury. The maximum payout is capped at ₹30,000 for the entire policy period, regardless of multiple claims for the insured person(s).
Under transportation cover, if a claim for the insured person’s death is accepted, we will cover the actual cost of transporting their remains to a hospital, home, cremation, or burial ground. The payout is limited to the lower of ₹5,000 or 2% of the sum assured under the Basic, Wider, or Comprehensive coverage, as specified in the policy schedule.
Children’s Education Benefit (available if opted for in the policy schedule) provides financial support for the education of an insured person's dependent children. If a claim is accepted, a one-time payment of ₹5,000 per child (up to two children under 19 years old) is made to cover education costs in case of accidental bodily injury.
Medical insurance provides financial protection against unexpected medical expenses, ensuring access to quality healthcare without depleting your savings.
You can add your spouse, children, parents, and other dependents as per the policy terms, ensuring comprehensive family coverage.
Online comparison helps you find the best plan that suits your needs and budget, offering a clear understanding of coverage and benefits.
Delaying premiums can result in policy lapse, losing coverage benefits and financial protection, and may lead to difficulties in renewing the policy.
Request a physical copy from the insurer or take a printout of the digital policy document received via email.
Individual vs Group Accident Insurance: Individual policies offer personalised coverage with higher premiums, portable across jobs, and customizable benefits. Group policies provide standardised coverage for multiple members (employees/associations) at lower premiums, employer-paid, but coverage ends with employment. Individual suits self-employed professionals; group ideal for corporate employee benefits with simplified enrollment process.
Individuals between 18 and 65 years of age who are active employees or members of an organisation with a minimum group size of 20–25 members are generally eligible, subject to basic health and occupation criteria.
To file a claim under a Group Personal Accident Insurance policy, you typically need a duly completed claim form, along with supporting documents. In case of accidental death, a police FIR and post-mortem report are required. For disability claims, medical reports and a disability certificate are necessary.
If an insured person suffers an accidental bodily injury during the policy period that fully prevents them from working, a weekly benefit will be paid. This amount is the lower of 1% of the sum assured under the comprehensive cover or ₹5,000 per week. Payments start upon proof of total disability and continue until recovery or for a maximum of 100 days.
Claims should be made within the stipulated time as per the policy terms to avoid rejection and ensure timely processing.
Pre-existing conditions are medical conditions you had before buying your Individual Health Insurance plan. Coverage for these might require waiting periods or exclusions. Be transparent about your health history.
Insurers cover hospital bills through reimbursement (you pay upfront and get reimbursed later) or cashless hospitalisation (insurer settles bills directly with network hospitals).
Premiums paid under group personal accident insurance can be claimed under Section 126 (formerly 80D of the Income Tax Act 1961) of the Income Tax Act of 2025 under the old tax regime.
Personal medical insurance offers financial protection against unexpected medical expenses due to illness, accidents, or hospitalisation. It provides peace of mind and safeguards your savings.
You must start the renewal process 30 days before your policy expires. It allows you to audit your members' list, review claim history and add/remove riders from your policy.
Yes, if you miss your deadline for renewing your insurance policy, you will get a grace period of 30 days. During this time, you cannot make any new claims. However, if you renew within the grace period, your policy will not lapse and will be considered continuous.
Yes, you can add or remove members from your policy during renewal. This is the phase where you have to re-evaluate your group’s needs and make changes to the plan.
Yes, insurers check your claim ratio. This means the number of claims divided by the premium paid. If your group has made a high number of claims in a single year, it may increase your premium to protect its funds.
You need the previous year’s policy documents, an updated list of employees or members, and a signed copy of the proposal form.
