Applying for a passport is now an online process, followed by a physical visit to the passport office in Delhi. Here are the steps you can follow to apply for the same:
Go to the Passport Seva Online Portal. Click on the ‘Register’ option from the navigation menu. Fill in your details and select ‘Sign Up’.
Then, verify your email ID. After confirmation, log in using your registered ID and password.
Note: You must change your password every three months, as it expires.
After logging in, open your dashboard. Click on ‘Services’ from the overview page or the left panel. Choose ‘Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport’.
Select the RPO based on your current residence. The system will show the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) during appointment booking. You can select a different RPO each time you apply.
After selecting the service, while filling in the details, follow the details in the sections carefully. Review all entries carefully, then submit the form once complete.
You will receive an Application Reference Number (ARN). You may also save the form and continue later. Remember that you cannot edit the form after submission.
After submission, click on ‘Pay and Schedule Appointment’. Payment is mandatory before booking a slot. To make the payment, select:
1. Online payment mode
2. Appointment quota (Normal or Tatkaal, if eligible)
3. Preferred PSK or POPSK
The system will display the next available date. Confirm details and proceed to payment to complete the transaction through the payment gateway.
After successful payment, the portal will display the appointment confirmation page. You will also receive an SMS with appointment details at your registered mobile number.
*Note: You may reschedule up to 3 times. Tatkaal applicants can reschedule once.
Carry all required documents on the appointment day. For children below 4 years, bring a recent passport-size photograph (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm) with a white background.
